SIP Phone Support - Conditions

The following features are supported (with conditions noted) via defined SIP methods between MiVoice Business and Generic SIP Endpoints.

For information on support for proprietary MiVoice Business call control features, see the System Features section of the Help.

Call Completed Elsewhere

SIP phones as members of a group will not indicate a missed call in their Call History when the call is answered by another group member. MiVoice Business sends a "Call completed elsewhere" message to all SIP devices when a call is answered by another group member.

NOTE: This feature does not apply to the SIP-based MiVoice Conference Unit and MiVoice Video Unit and MiVoice Video Unit which do not have Call History.

Call Reject

Call Reject allows you to manually redirect an incoming call on your prime or private line to another number. To take advantage of this feature, your SIP phone must be programmed for Call Forwarding and/or Call Rerouting.

NOTE: The system will follow the rerouting only if no Call Forward Profile matching the internal or external caller exists or exists but is disabled (inactive).

To reject an incoming call, press the Reject, Move, or Decline key. The call is immediately redirected to a Call Forwarding destination in this order:

If the force forward destination cannot be reached, the system will follow any provisioned exception handling and attempt to reach that destination next.

If the Call Forward Profile for the device performing the reject action is not provisioned, the caller will continue to hear the ringback tone. Once the device clears down, the caller can redirect the call to any programmed Call Rerouting destination after the Call Rerouting Timer System Option expires.

NOTE: This feature is not available if the set is programmed to use an active Call Forward Follow Me or Call Forward Always.

Calling Party Number and Name

The name and number of the calling party is present to the SIP phone at setup time, if available. If the call originated on a 5ESS PRI trunk, the calling name and number may not be available.

When the SIP Phone initiates a call, the name and number supplied in the FROM header will be used as the calling party name and number.

Connected Number Delivery

When a SIP user makes a call to MiVoice Business, the current number and name being alerted is displayed (wait for answer display). When the call is answered, it may not be answered by the same number that was presented to the caller in wait for answer state. If this is the case, then the answering party's name and number are displayed to the caller.

For example:

Registration of SIP Endpoints with Name

This feature supports name strings in the URI using the URI/Number translation table configured by the system administrator.
